Using Canadian Pharmacies −
Should Pharmacists Be Allowed to Prescribe Drugs?

Anyone who's been prescribed a medication by their doctor knows that the costs associated with filling these medical prescriptions, especially if they are brand name drugs, can be very difficult to bear. The only problem is that sometimes an alternative Canadian Rx for a generic drug can be hard to come by, because it often requires additional visits to your doctor. Some people have begun to wonder whether doctors should really have all the power when it comes to Canadian medications. This had led to consumers on both sides of the border asking "Should Pharmacists Be Allowed to Prescribe Drugs?"

There are definitely some cases in which Canadian pharmacies and their pharmacists should be able to dispense certain products to their clients at their own discretion. An example of this would be the emergency contraception that pharmacists in the United States are allowed to prescribe to patients over 18 without a written request from a doctor. Other countries, like Britain have made similar concessions, such as allowing pharmacists to dispense drugs directly to consumers when they are related to conditions that do not require sophisticated diagnosis techniques and/or a prescription.

Of course, it is unlikely that Canadian pharmacies will soon be offering direct diagnosis and prescription services directly to their customers in the near future. This is because of the very legitimate concern that pharmacists lack the diagnostic training that is necessary to accurately examine a patient and determine which Canadian Rx is best suited to treating their condition. While pharmacists might be the best authority on which generic Canadian prescriptions are just as good as their brand name counterparts, and the side effects associated with each, they simply don't have the educational background to replace doctors when it comes to writing prescriptions.

It's important to be aware that there are some online pharmacies that will try to convince you that they don't require you to have a prescription in order to purchase their Canada Rx products. You should be aware that these types of claims are likely an indication that the online pharmacy is operation outside the law, and you should avoid giving them your money at all costs. Such illegitimate operations have been known to tamper with the packaging of discount drugs, and even replace real drugs with harmful substitutes. If you don't keep a close eye on the Canadian pharmacies you're working with, this could happen to you.
